Hey everyone!
I just wanted to take a moment to share a link to my storenvy!
I'm selling some of my old costumes, wigs, and lots of other things on there!
Since I recently graduated, I'm in the middle of finding a new job.
I've been putting out lots of applications, but in the meantime, a little added income from selling some things would help me out immensely!
Plus, cleaning out our closet gives us some added space!

Thanks for checking it out in advance!

Hey everyone!
Sorry I kind of fell off the face of the planet, but I have not been active on this account for awhile.
Reason being: School
As some of you may have known, I was working to get my Master's degree. What that entailed basically made my final semester in my program hell on Earth. I did 40 days of student teaching and wrote my Master's thesis. It was so much work but I am done now.
So really, all of my apologies, but my real life took over and I just did not have time to look after this account during that time.

Now that school is over, though, I am finishing up a few things for a certification that I need and am job hunting. I will be spending the next few days though trying to get back to everyone on here.

Once again, my apologies. I do have some lovely photos to share with you all, so thank you all for hanging in there!

Ok here are the answers and features in response to my previous journal! Thanks again to everyone who asked a question!

:iconzetsumeimaru: asked: Are you single? Okay, my previous question was in bad taste. How about this: how's the weather?-
Don't worry! I don't think your first question was in poor taste! But I am not single. I have been in a relationship with :iconaugust-fehrmont: for over three years now so that's why if you follow my cosplay, we do a lot of stuff together. And as for the weather, it's been alright. We got a lot of snow last week, which was really nice and beautiful, but then it warmed up a little and a lot of it melted. I prefer a snowy winter to a wet, muddy one XD

:iconcet-tin: asked: What makeup do you use? :> You always look impeccable.
What's the first costume you want to do in the new year?-
Awww shucks! Thank you! I do really try! But for what types, that's a long long list! So I guess I will just list what I use as I put it on, I think that's the easiest way. I usually start with my concealer and primer. For concealer, I like Too Faced Absolutely Flawless concealer and recently, I just started using Samshbox's Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer and I really like that. The Smashbox primers are so nice and light, and they really help my pores look smaller ;-; I don't use a typical "foundation", but Missha's Signature Real Complete BB. I used to use Missha Perfect cover, but it made me break out a lot. I have pretty sensitive skin so I have to be careful with what I use or else I will react to it. And the final step is I usually just use a little finishing powder. My favorite is the Flawless Finishing powder by Pixi, but I also actually like the Revlon Photoready translucent finishing powder too. And the first costume I am making for next year is DEFINITELY Sumia from Fire Emblem Awakening! I have wanted to make her since the game came out and now I am so excited that we are going to be making them for Katsucon! :D (Big Grin) But I am also doing Gwendolyn's dress that she wears and Washu from Tenchi for Katsucon, so I guess I will have to say that those 3 are the first ones I want to do next year!

:iconaugust-fehrmont: asked: Hmmmm! Are there any obscure things that we haven't talked about that you would cosplay from? I guess I'm thinking of like... things from one's childhood or something like that. >D For me, that thing was Shining Force...-
Ummm yes! Well, sort of XD I would really love to cosplay from Final Fantasy Tactics Advanve. That game holds a lot of great memories for me and it's not obscure so much as a lot of people didn't like it. I'd also love to make Lirael from the Abhorsen trilogy someday.

:iconcoccineouscephalopod: asked: How long have you been cosplaying?-
The end of this year marks my fifth year cosplaying! My first con and first time cosplaying was at Otakon 2008 and I have been addicted ever since! :D (Big Grin) I kind of started late compared to a lot of my friends that are in the hobby, but I am having a great time with it so I think that is what matters!

:iconrosieru-chan: asked: What is a dream cosplay you'd like to make one day?-
That is a REALLY tough one! I feel like every costume for me is a dream costume, in one way or another. But, I just made one of my big dream costumes with Gwendolyn, which was awesome. I've always really adored Euphemia from Code Geass and I really want to make one of her beautiful dresses like kawaii-mobile.com/wp-content/u…  I also REALLY want to make Lennth from Valkyrie Profile someday too. If I had to pick the one costume that I can say is my dream, I think it would be her. She's not only one of my all time favorite characters, but I will be so proud of myself if I can make it since it seems so challenging.

:iconraiinfaiiry: asked: What is your favorite type of Stitch to use when sewing?-
Ahaha that's a good question. I'm actually a pretty basic gal myself, so I usually don't do anything too crazy. If we are talking about machine stitches, I am pretty fond of doing satin stitching, though. I get a little crazy with it sometimes since I like to do it every chance I get when I need to put a design or an applique on something. I also really like using a blind/invisible stitch to hem things when I get the chance too!

:iconbalthierflare: asked: Is there a first step you take when starting a new project? Like planning or patternmaking, etc ? -
I think the first thing I do is decide on fabrics and other materials. I really just love looking at fabric and putting colors and textures together and seeing what looks good, what works for the look that I want and what doesn't. I am really indecisive and I really love using different types of fabrics in costumes, so I like to buy swatches and see the fabric in different lighting and with all the other fabrics before I make a decision. Sometimes I know exactly what I want so I just go for it, but like, for Ninian, I bought so many swatches, it probably took me about 3 weeks just to decide what fabrics I wanted to use. It was awful when I worked at Joann's because I would be a terrible employee and look at fabrics for different projects! XD But I think picking out the fabric in such a way helps me to better see my vision for the costume before I embark on the actual fabrication. :) (Smile)

:icondeltaree: asked: How much time (in average) does it usually take you to make a costume? :D (Big Grin)-
I think the best estimate is probably between one and two months. I am a terrible procrastinator and easily distracted. I would say a lot of it depends on how motivated I am feeling, if it's stuff I have done before, and other life obligations. But generally, I start most of my more challenging costumes 2-3 months before I plan on wearing them, and easier ones about a month or so before. I will say, though, that I usually start out slow and then really pick up pace as the deadline approaches. As terrible as it sounds, I like working under pressure so some twisted reason XD

:iconstealthos-aurion: asked:
What's one thing you are 100% okay with splurging on in cosplay and what is one thing you are okay with going a bit cheaper on?-
Leather. I will definitely splurge on leather. And in general, if the fabric is 100% absolutely what I want, if it's expensive, I don't mind splurging. I always try to find deals and coupons though and wait until things are on sale because money is important! I'm actually ok with going a bit cheaper on wigs. As you know, group orders off taobao are great and I have never been upset with the quality of any taobao wig I have ordered. I think wigs tend to generally be over priced for the quality so if I can get just as nice of a wig or nicer, for cheaper, heck yes I'm doing that!

:iconhatless-sheep: asked: In costuming there are always hard parts that we eventually figure out. For you personally, what have been your biggest successes? -
Personally for me, actually making and finishing Godoka was a success. A lot of things went wrong with it (A LOT) but it was one of those costumes where I looked at it going "How the hell am I going to do this?" and then I did it. I am still really proud of that galaxy lining. I think also despite all it's problems, Gwen's armor was a success. It was my first time actually making armor, let alone with leather, and I think I learned a lot from the experience. I think the things that I consider my biggest "successes" are the ones that I learned the most from. :3

:iconwinryrockbellhyuuga: asked: How did you attach your lower armor to your legs in your Gwendolyn cosplay?-
It is actually connected with snaps! There is a front pieces and a back piece that were wet formed to the shape of my legs. I used leather glue to put the pieces together on the outside seam, and on the inside seam, there are 3 snaps that are holding the pieces on my leg. You can see them in this picture: tokidoki-loki.deviantart.com/a… Hope that helps!

Thank you all for submitting questions! I had a lot of fun answering them!

And a little reminder! I am still holding a contest for 10,000 views!
If you get my 10,000th pageview, take a screen cap and send it to me! Your prize will be a personalized tote bag made by me! It won't be anything too crazy, but a nice little tote that you can carry books, groceries, anything like that in. I will discuss with whoever gets the 10,000th view more details about what they want on it. My only requests: Keep it G and nothing too crazy (I can only do so much Waaaah!) and I'm keeping this contest to US and Canadian residents only. Sorry for any of my overseas watchers :[ Maybe for the next contest I will extend it, but it is mostly for shipping reasons.

I got this idea from my friend :iconpaxingcai: and thought it was really cool so I figured I would give it a try! So in the spirit of the holiday, I will be doing features on my journal! All you need to do is ask me a question (please keep it PG! I am too shy to answer anything too personal ) and the first 10 people to do so, I will answer it and select 3 of their deviations that I like most and feature them here! :D
I hope to hear from you soon!

Also if you are still interested in receiving a holiday/seasons greetings card from :iconaugust-fehrmont: and myself, let me know! We are doing Attack on Titan themed ones (Eren and Mikasa, and Petra and Levi) so if you want one, let us know! :D We are only sending out a limited number so the sooner you let us know, the better!

I think that's about everything! I will be on somewhat sporadically over the next few weeks since finishing the semester will be keeping me very busy! I am currently working on finishing up my Master's thesis, so this semester it has been planning and next semester will be actual research! I am so excited, but so nervous at the same time. But I promise I will do my best with keeping up with everything!

 Car

*edit* Thank you all for the questions! I will answers them and get to the features as soon as I can. :]

Oh my goodness! Hello everyone it has been awhile!
I don't even know where to begin! I suppose just a quick recap with the cons I went to since my last journal ahaha
So first up was AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta) at the end of September! :iconaugust-fehrmont: and I took the short flight down from Buffalo to Atlanta and met up with :iconpaxingcai: there. It was an amazing time! I got to wear Ninian again and have some cute pics that I still need to upload. I also got to see one of my favorite people in the world :iconenvelcosplay: and wear Prince Utena again with here. I also debuted my Nah costume there with her as Nowi, which was AWESOME! She is the best dragon mama and I love her to bits and pieces. I really wish we lived closer to one another since I don't think I will be seeing her again before Katsucon. :[ Overall, though, I really loved AWA. The people were all very polite and friendly! Especially when I was in Ninian! So many people were watching out and being so careful with my dress, it was really nice! I don't know if we will be able to get back down there next year, but I would really love to go back in the future.

After we got back from AWA, though, we unfortunately lost one of our cats, Trix. She had been August's cat since he was 11, so needless to say, it was a hard time for us. We didn't have much motivation throughout October, and with our school loads getting heavier, it was really hard to focus on anything new for Youmacon. However, both :iconaugust-fehrmont: and I finished our Attack on Titan costumes, at least the basic uniforms without gear. We will be adding the capes and gear for a larger group at Katsucon.

As for Youmacon, it was a lot more fun that I expected! I ended up helping out with the masquerade, which took up most of my Saturday, but I think it was worth it. It was really great to see all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on at cons and I have a MUCH larger appreciation for all the time and effort people give in order to make cons happen! It was also really awesome to see a lot of my midwestern friends, who are all incredible! August and I ended up wearing Eren and Mikasa on Friday with a friend of ours as Levi, Levi and Petra on Saturday, and Kaizin and Sarah from Shining Force II with our friend as Bowie (REALLY REALLY OLD SERIES). We didn't get as many pictures as we would have liked with our Attack on Titan costumes. Which brings me to my next point!

The holidays are coming and we are sending out holiday cards! August and I are going to be doing an Attack on Titan holiday photoshoot in a few weeks for pictures for the cards, so if you want one, let us know! They will be limited in number (since they are kind of pricey to print) so the earlier you let me know, the better! Whether you get a card or not, though, we will be posting all the pictures on here during the holiday season!

Also! I am going to be doing a give away since I am approaching 10,000 page views! I feel like that's a big enough marker! My only requests: Keep it G and nothing too crazy (I can only do so much :cries:) and I'm keeping this contest to US and Canadian residents only. Sorry for any of my overseas watchers :[ Maybe for the next contest I will extend it, but it is mostly for shipping reasons.

I think that's just about everything! :D I hope everyone has been doing well! I know school is in full swing, so best of luck to everyone finishing up their semesters soon! :D
